Ferris wheels, corndogs, monster trucks, and shows are kicking off at the Tennessee State Fair in Wilson County in August.
The fair has the saying "You can't see it all in just one visit," and I wholeheartedly agree. The Wilson County Fair was the first fair I have ever been to, and even though I stayed for a whole night I hardly had time to enjoy all the rides, let alone the live music and other shows. That being said, the rides were extremely thrilling and colorful. They had all the classic rides one would expect to find at a carnival, but included a full size roller coaster, an extra large euro-slide, and a Minecraft themed children's playground.
The fair featured live music from over 50 local bluegrass and country bands such as East Nash Grass, the Larry Stephenson Band, and Wildcat Ridge. In addition to the music, the fair also hosted pageants, shows, and competitions, including quilt competitions, baking contests, flower shows, and even a spelling bee.
After attending the Wilson County fair, I can definitely see why this is Tennessee's biggest fair - the crowd, food, rides, shows, and general atmosphere makes me excited to come again next year.
