The Bedroom of a 20 Something

Updated: Oct 4, 2022

When you think about the bedroom of a college student, your first thought is probably a cramped dorm room. My bedroom is quite different, however. I started college during the Covid-19 pandemic, and because of that I decided to live in an off-campus apartment. I never experienced the college dorm life, but I don't think I missed out on much.

After being trapped in one room for about two years, you have two options. You can either leave it as is, boring and bland, or you can decorate and give yourself something to look at. I have always enjoyed decorating my bedroom, so the decision here was easy.

When it comes to what I decorate with, I am surrounded by a wide variety of media. I have collected over fifty posters so far, many of which were passed down from my father from when he was my age. My own art is scattered into the mix as well in the form of paintings, sculptures, and other art projects. The jewelry I wear daily is hung up on the wall as well, because I enjoy having it on display.

Aside from doing online classes and homework in my bedroom, I also simply enjoying time in it, both alone and with my friends. The colorful walls are great inspiration for when I am working on a new art project or practicing the bass guitar. It also helps my guests to feel more comfortable and gives them something to look at. My bedroom is my happy place, and I love to share that with other people.
